Valery "L3rich" Kharitonov, the founder of Aurora Gaming, has brought to light the recent developments surrounding the reported sale of Astralis. Through alleged screenshots shared on his Telegram channel, Kharitonov shed light on the perceived lack of attractiveness in Astralis' assets.
While the exact timing of the presentation shared by Astralis remains unspecified, significant changes within the organization have surfaced. Kasper Straube, the former Sports director, was ousted following the team's failure to secure a spot in the BLAST Austin Major 2025 in mid-April. The revealed roster documents the inclusion of Casper "cadiaN" Moller, who found himself benched during the same period, while the presentation notably distinguishes Astralis' management realm from the CS2 team.
Leaked screenshots divulge that Astralis recorded an average annual revenue of €6 million, with a notable dip in 2024 and a projected surge in 2025 geared towards Major participation. Touting itself as "consistently profitable," the organization's 2022 financial report unveiled a revenue of DKK 87.5 million (approximately €11 million), with the CS:GO segment accounting for more than half of the income. However, despite the substantial revenue, the financial balance sheet of 2022 painted a different picture, showing a loss of DDK 9.7 million after expenses.
Aleksey "OverDrive" Biryukov emerged as the initial source of the Astralis transition reports. Subsequent details hinted at the likelihood of the CS2 lineup transitioning to a new owner before PGL Astana 2025, potentially competing under a different banner. The news was further corroborated by reports from HLTV.org and Dust.dk, with estimations from Danish sources valuing the sale between $2-$3 million, though the specific entity being evaluated, whether CS2 or the entire organization, remains unclear.
