Recently, CS2's Faceit Pro League (FPL) witnessed a significant shakeup in its player roster. On November 24, renowned veterans such as GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, olofmeister, GuardiaN, and several others were removed from the league by FACEIT. The decision, as reported by CS2 News on Telegram, came as a surprise to the community.
The purge extended to over a hundred players, encompassing both retired professionals and active players on the lookout for new opportunities. Notable exclusions featured Alexander 'br0' Bro from Astralis, who had recently competed in the Shanghai Major RMR. Additionally, prominent names like Smooya, mir, k1to, and Bymas found themselves taken off the league, despite holding ranks within the top 50 of FACEIT's Elo ladder.
CS2 News shed light on the criteria for removal, indicating that only players affiliated with the top 35 teams in the HLTV ranking were retained. FACEIT's official statement clarified that the restructuring was aimed at aligning FPL with the schedules of premier teams.
The upheaval didn't end there. On November 25, FACEIT rolled out a notable update, focusing on enhancing the player experience. The platform beefed up its anti-cheat measures to combat smurfing, bolstered individual statistics, and introduced a slew of new matchmaking features tailored for premium subscribers.
