Recently, former professional Dota 2 player Henrik "AdmiralBulldog" Ahnberg expressed his frustration towards tournament organizers for what he perceived as the abuse of regional qualifier rules. This outburst came following Chimera Esports' victory over Nigma Galaxy in the qualifier finals, securing them a spot at DreamLeague S25. Ahnberg further criticized the team upon discovering their simultaneous participation in European qualifiers.
Chimera Esports, a Russian stack boasting players like Daxak, lorenof, and TA2000, comprises two players from Belarus, alongside representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. Despite Ahnberg's vocal objections on social media, tournament organizers remained silent in response to his tweets.
Notably, Chimera Esports embarked on a journey to Jordan on January 7, as evidenced by their social media posts. ESL, citing the team's geographic location, permitted the squad of Eastern European players to compete in the middle-eastern qualifiers. In the upcoming WEU qualifiers for PGL Wallachia S3, Chimera will face off against either Team Turkiye or AVULUS after their victory against MOUZ.
